Alexander College is a higher educational institute that provides academic preparation and university courses for students wishing to begin an academic career.

In conjunction with Kangnam University in Seoul, Alexander College is currently looking to hire an Instructor to teach the lower levels of our English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program at Kangnam University for an initial contact period of 8 months (with the possibility of extension to 12 months).

The successful candidate will receive paid training at Alexander College prior to departure. It is expected that the Instructor will maintain close communications with the department coordinator at Alexander College for the duration of the contract at Kangnam University.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Languages Canada certified
  • At least 2 years experience teaching similar courses in a post-secondary institution

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Benefits include return airfare, monthly accommodation (with basic furnishings) and health insurance.
  • Salary is paid at the rate of 2,500,000 Korean won per month (approximately $2,500 CAD).

Term:

  • The term is scheduled to start mid-February, 2012.
  • The term of the contract is scheduled to terminate in Sept-Oct 2012 (specific dates are subject to change)

Summary:
We are seeking a professional and pleasant individual to manage our reception area at our Vancouver campus.  This is a pivotal role as the candidate will serve as the primary contact person for the day-to-day operations of the school.

Desired Qualifications:
-  At least one year relevant experience
-  Superb interpersonal skills
-  Excellent written and oral communication skills
-  Excellent phone manners
-  Experience in using office computer applications (MS Office suite)
-  Administrative training is an asset

Duties:

-  Provide administrative support for the Director of Operations and other administrative staff.

-  Handle all aspects of administrative assistance, including preparation of memos, notices, web-research, and preparation of other documents.

-  Welcome guests and assist visitors.

-  Answer general questions from students and visitors.

-  Answer multi-line phone system; take messages and transfer calls.

-  Assist with course evaluations at the end of each semester.

-  Data entry, including class attendance, tracking of placement tests, scheduling CLBP tests, and course evaluation results.

-  Assist with room bookings.

-  Maintain inventory of office supplies.

-  Troubleshoot photocopy machine.

-  Update bulletin boards.

-  Maintain orderly appearance of the front desk and lobby area.

-  Perform other duties as assigned.

In addition to offering courses that apply to University Transfer, Alexander College also has the ability to award an Associate of Arts Degree and an Associate of Science Degree. Upon successful completion of either two-year degree, students are eligible to apply for a three-year Post-Graduation work permit. Students wishing to continue their studies can transfer their credits to the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria as well as many other institutions.

In cooperation with Thompson Rivers University, Alexander College offers a Pre-Masters Degree Program which prepares students to enter the MBA program at TRU.

We are currently looking for sessional Sociology Instructors for our 14-week Winter semester for several first and second year courses.

These courses are offered at both our Burnaby and Vancouver campuses. Classes run from January 9 – April 17, 2012.

Qualifications for new Economics Instructors include:

•    Demonstrated success in innovative or student-centered teaching techniques
