Admission Policy
Alexander College provides admission to educational programs for as wide a range of students as possible. However, where appropriate, access to programs and courses is restricted to students who satisfy established admission criteria at both general and program-specific levels.

International Students
Students who have not completed their secondary program in a school in North America are designated as international students. Their admission credentials require special scrutiny. In general, to be admitted, international students must have completed the equivalent of twelve years of schooling, and be proficient in English.
English is the language of instruction and successful study depends heavily upon fluency in the English language. This can be demonstrated by any one of the following English proficiency tests with the stated score.
- TOEFL (paper-based) 550, with essay 4.0.
- TOEFL (computer-based) 213, with essay 4.0.
- IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with 6.0 (Written).
- CAEL 60 overall with essay 60.
- LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with essay 24.
- ELA (English Language Assessment) 145.
- Internet based TOEFL 80 – 19 Reading / 18 Listening / 19 Writing / 18 Speaking
Where appropriate, students with documented disabilities are permitted to demonstrate language competency in alternative ways.
English for Academic Purposes Program
Students who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement for admission to the Associate of Arts program may apply to the English for Academic Purposes Program. This is a full-time, integrated, intensive English and academic skills program that prepares students for college and university study.
ESL Program
Students who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement for admission to the English for Academic Purposes Program may enter the ESL program. This is a full-time integrated and intensive basic English program.
